Prep football Day 2: CV

Central Valley practice had ended as a squall passed through sending assistant coaches scurrying to the gym (thank goodness this wasn’t the ark-necessitating gully washer that followed later – I beat it to my car).
Though his assistants bolted, Rick Giampietri remained, standing Moses-like atop the mountain watching the players run hills below him. It was day two of high school football as I went out and about watching a team that last year was the best 8-2 squad to not make the state playoffs.
