HBO @ Noon: Property Taxes

For the first time, I wrote out a check to the Kootenai County treasurer to pay the first half of my property taxes. In the past, my mortgage company has taken care of this unhappy deed. But I paid off the mortgage two months ago — and the honors are all mine. On the positive side, I still pay a couple hundred bucks less per year than I did before the Legislature increased the 50-50 homeowners exemption and removed the school M&O from the property tax. On the negative side, it isn’t pleasant writing out a check that’s due a few days before Christmas.

Question: Have your property taxes remained relatively stable in the last few years?
