Smith: Advice For Jobless Journalists

Don’t visit your former newsroom, at least not yet. For one thing, you’re not nearly as welcome as you might expect. Those who remain on the job have to believe they are doing the right thing, that their work matters (it does) and that they can continue to perform at a high level. They will not want to be reminded of the tough, emotional times. They ate a piece of your goodbye cake. They don’t want seconds. They need to focus on their future.
