Hate to see him go

Browsing through the Seattle Times today I saw Craig Smith’s last Sideline Smitty column. He took a voluntary buyout the current sign of the times in the newspaper industry. His columns were always entertaining and it was fun getting together at the various state meets over the years. We have sort of lived parallel lives, are about the same age, have been following high school sports beginning roughly the same time and enjoyed the halcyon days of this craft, now suffering through its nadir. Hopefully it’s temporary and the world of talking heads and opinion as fact will cease to entertain, leading back to reporting information. Smitty, you’ll be missed.
