Time for foal control

The Spokesman-Review

As a person involved with dog and horse rescue and rehoming, I appreciate the Sunday article on the plight of horses (“Giving up the reins”).

You did fail, however, to mention the biggest problem, which is the same as it is with dogs and cats – overbreeding. Everyone needs to do their part and stop the overpopulation – not only in backyards but also with the “quality” bred horses. Whether free, low-priced or high-priced, there just aren’t enough homes for them all.

The slaughterhouses have as many young as old, purebred as cross-bred, healthy as unhealthy. We the people are the problem as well as the answer.
