Snow crews owed thanks

The Spokesman-Review

Regarding Mr. Blowers’ letter (“Valley plows missing in action,” Dec. 23), it is interesting to note that despite Mr. Blowers’ request to return to Spokane County for our snow removal, Spokane County has provided snow plowing services for the city of Spokane Valley since we incorporated. The county has canceled our contract, effective Oct. 1, 2009.

The county crews and private-sector crews have been working in the city 24 hours per day, seven days a week since this past Thursday. In my opinion we owe them a very sincere thank you for their dedication and work ethic. Most people in the area realize that this is the second all-time record snowfall in a row and have worked with the city to clear our roads. We thank all of you for your patience and understanding.

Mayor, Spokane Valley
