• Let’s start with the new football coach at New Mexico State, now former UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker. He was smart enough to make his first hire a guy whose offense gave the Bruins fits, former WSU quarterback and quarterbacks coach – and play caller – Timm Rosenbach.
• The Ducks lifted the Pac-10’s bowl record to 3-0 – and erased any thought of the conference being soft – with a second-half comeback over Oklahoma State. You can find game stories here and here , along with a blog tease to a John Canzano’s column, which I’m not sure was supposed to run today or tomorrow, since I can’t find it on-line.
• Washington won its final nonconference basketball game last night, but lost guard Elston Turner for the weekend. More on the game here and here . Freelancer Howie Stalwick also has this WSU notebook .
• That’s it for this morning. We’ll be back this evening with a first look at our story for tomorrow’s S-R. Till then …
