Bob Paulos: Spokane Should Turn Lights Off
While most cities spend big money enticing people to move in, the Spokane newspaper wants to make it pleasant for them to leave. It’s a wonderful idea for building rapport with the business community, which sees customers lost when people leave. Oh, well, as a wise man once said: “Lose some, Lose some.” I just remembered, those were the words of Vince Spezzano, promotion director of the Gannett Co., largest newspaper group in the country, a perfect summary for the Spokane situation. I have an idea for another Spokane newspaper promotion, one that fits the “leaving idea.” Sell chances for who gets to turn off all the lights in town after all of Spokane is sold on the idea of spending their last day in the city/ Bob Paulos /Coeur d’Alene Press. More here.
DFO: I don’t have any idea what Paulos is talking about. Or why the Press would continue to run his nonsense, when Spokane is enjoying its own boom. I thoroughly enjoy Coeur d’Alene. I have for 24 years. But I also give Spokane props for getting its act together. However, I can’t resist posting Paulos’ nonsense. I wonder how many others in this community look through his crotchety filter?
