Vox Box: Should We Keep The Penny?

On “60 Minutes” recently, posts Andrew/Vox Box, there was a debate about whether to cut the penny from US currency completely, or to leave it the way it is. On the “remove it” side, an argument was the the US Mints spend more money producing pennies and nickels than any other currency. Others said that charities and retailers could suffer from the loss of the $.01. Penny drives would be wiped out of existence and stores would have to round their prices up to the nearest nickel.

Should the US cut the penny? Or should it remain on the menu?
