Not so fast, U2 fans!
Not that long ago, I was told by unimpeachable sources that the movie “U2 3D” was supposed to open this coming Friday at both the NorthTown Mall and Coeur d’Alene Riverstone sites.
Uh, wrong. Seems that the “Hannah Montana” film is doing so well nationwide ( $54 million in 687 theaters since Feb. 1) and “U2 3D” so poorly ( $3 million in 61 theaters since Jan. 23) that they’ve pushed the U2 films back to at least Feb. 22. Maybe even later.
Reminds me of the old joke: Two Army drill sergeants are debating how to tell one of their boot-camp recruits, a kid named Johnson, that his mother has died. They decide to fold a formation.
When the soldiers are lined up, one of the sergeants says, “All of you whose mothers are still alive, step forward!”
And as the soldiers start to move, the other sergeant yells out, “Not so fast, Johnson!”
All you fans of concert films, step forward. Not so fast, U2 fans!
