Cats, kudos, criminals, and caucusing

Thuy

Oodles of kudos from staffers for the Feature Creature feature in the Voice - good public service because most of the animals get adopted, according to Voice editor Tad Brooks.

Many apologies for the story in the South voice that ended midsentence.

Ed

Eddie Ray Hall, whom past S-R stories have called Spokane’s one-man crime wave, is out of the Airway Heights Correctional Center. The news brief appears near the bottom of this page .

One editor noted that his mother helped us out by naming her sons Freddie, Teddy and Eddie: Freddie Joe Hall, Teddy Lee Hall, Eddie Ray Hall. An uber-concise description? From Jon Brunt’s story from 6/4/2005:

The three brothers with rhyming names all have criminal convictions. Eddie alone has been arrested at least 40 times, and has cost taxpayers more than $1 million in court, incarceration and medical costs, The Spokesman-Review has previously reported.

Fred

Great story this morning about Fred Russell’s sentencing from page A1:
14 years for Russell , story by Karen Dorn Steele.

It comes with a slideshow , photos by Christopher Anderson.

Candidate iron chef

Some of our locals will huddle for caucus parties including that of Ron Paul and Barack Obama. Supporters will get together for parties and watch the results on television. S-R will have coverage of the events this evening.

Speaking of candidate Ron Paul, local supporters’ signs had one assistant city editor curious. The signs said ‘Who is Ron Paul?’

“It’s not ‘who the hell is Ron Paul’…It’s a ‘find out more’”, said political reporter Jim Camden. A lot of Ron Paul signs tend to be homemade.

The name reminded senior editor Carla Savalli of RuPaul .

“Thanks a lot, Carla,” Reisnouer said.
