DFO: City Attorney Mike Gridley explained the complicated process to me on the phone a few minutes ago. Basically, LCDC helped the Centennial Trail Foundation secure a $2.5M loan to purchase about 60 acres of the trail that stretches out onto the Rathdrum Prairie (about 5 miles, with a sticker value of $6 million). LCDC agreed to pay the interest on the 4-year loan. The trail foundation has raised between $600,000 and $800,000 to pave the trail. More below .
