It’s My 2 Cents: Higher Education

I appreciate the fact that high school graduates are jamming next year’s freshman classes at UI, WSU, Gonzaga and other colleges in the Northwest. Higher education was my ticket out of the hum-drum life on a dairy and subsequent job as a grocery store clerk. The exciting last 38 years as a journalist, editor, columnist and now blogger wouldn’t have happened without an affordable community college and state institution near my home. Mebbe that’s why I’m so passionate about higher education and the Education Corridor. And why I pity families with bright kids I know who simply don’t have a college mind-set.
