Hedberg: No Peru Vacation For Me
With gasoline prices near $4 a gallon andexpected to rise even higher this summer, I’m surprised to see so many people still driving their gas-guzzling recreational vehicles and campers headed for summer vacations. Nobody I know can afford that kind of gas. These people must be oil executives or movie stars. People like you and me - people who still have to divvy up the paycheck between house payments, utilities, food, medical bills and children’s education - are going to have a harder time figuring how to squeeze out a few extra dollars for entertainment this summer. No trip to Peru for me. I was hoping to hike through the ancient ruins of Machu Picchu. Instead I may just go pick up litter along the highway and call it good/ Kathy Hedberg , Lewiston Tribune. Question: Have you changed your vacation plans as a result of the gas prices?
