Can anyone help with this trivia question?
Little help here. I just returned from vacation and was presented with this questioning e-mail:
I have been searching for a spoof-on-Zorro movie that I saw on TV quite a few years ago, and I found your movie blog online while surfing this evening. I used to live in Spokane (I attended North Central High School in the original building from ’76-’78) and thought, what the heck, I’d see if you recognize it. I saw it in Victoria, B.C., when a friend and I ferried through the San Juan Islands and up into Canada. We started watching it about five minutes into it so we didn’t see the title – it wasn’t mentioned in the credits, either. We didn’t recognize any of the actors and we don’t remember where or by which studio it was made. We think it was on a Canadian channel, but again we’re not sure. What we both remember is that we laughed so hard we nearly fell on the floor, several times, throughout the movie.
Anyway, the scenes that stick out in my memory are of the to-be-Zorro guy getting shot while standing on a dock or a riverbank. He falls into the water and later washes up on the bank. He drags himself along the ground for quite a ways and ends up in a crypt. A young boy takes care of him and brings him food. Once he’s nursed back to health, he puts on the typical Zorro mask… only it’s about 1-inch wide and wouldn’t disguise a flea. He then proceeds to annoy the villain who (I think) hired someone to shoot him. He might have spoken with a lisp when he wasn’t Zorro, but I’m not sure.
I know this isn’t much to go on, but do you have any ideas?? This has been driving me and my friend nuts for 22 years. We can’t find it anywhere and we’d love to see it again, if only to see if it was really that funny.
Thanks,
Michelle
Anybody got a clue?
