The Slice: Suddenly, dirty snow isn’t so bad
Receding snow doesn’t just make way for spring flowers.
It reveals once again that Spokane has an embarrassing litter problem. And that, in turn, reminds us that adults who toss fast-food trash out of car windows could, if they understood the procedures, vote and procreate.
Let’s move on.
“Tuesday’s half-dozen: 1. Remember, the advent of mild weather means you might actually have to make good on your pledge to hoe out the garage.
2. You don’t have to be British to enjoy HP sauce.
3. What happens if you do a search on your name at www.youtube.com? (Me? It calls up a video of a guy talking about Christian sex.)
4. Clayton Colliton noted that there are a bunch of people with military backgrounds who live on Buttercup Street.
5. Recess supervisor Debbie Swoboda wonders if the snow will be gone from the playground blacktop at Wilson Elementary before school ends.
6. When “House, M.D.” is on TV, Sarra Reiber’s hospital-employee husband adds a running commentary along the lines of “not possible,” “he’d have bled to death,” et cetera.
“Lost and found: If you lost a digital camera near Riverside State Park, it might have been discovered. Though it must have been covered by snow at some point, it still works. One of the photos, possibly from a wedding reception, features a sign saying “Terry Loves Mirapia.”

“Saturday Slice quiz winner: About 75 readers e-mailed or phoned in the correct answer — Jerry Kramer, co-author of “Instant Replay,” an account of life as a member of the Green Bay Packers.
Among those respondents were a few former Sandpoint High and University of Idaho classmates of his.
Though I had not specified that the first person with the answer would be the winner, most entrants assumed this to be the case. So I’ll go with that one last time. That makes Spokane’s Paul Chapin the winner of the coveted reporter’s notebook.
Thanks to all who entered.
“Tuesday Slice quiz: Everybody who pays attention to this sort of thing knows that the HBO series “The Sopranos” came to an end with a song by Journey playing in the background.
But can you tell me what filmed-in-Spokane movie also ended with a Journey song playing? And what was that song?
One randomly selected reader submitting the correct answers will win a reporter’s notebook.
“Today’s Slice question: How many people around here own pampered cars that haven’t been out of the garage since Thanksgiving?
