More Info: Gov. Eliot Spitzer has resigned, completing a stunning fall from power after he was nationally disgraced by links to a high-priced prostitution ring. In a somber news conference, Spitzer announced his final day in office will be March 17. Spitzer will be replaced by Lt. Gov. David Paterson, who will become New York’s first black governor and reportedly had urged Spitzer to delay his departure a few days to ensure an orderly transition.
