It’s My 2 Cents — Puffed-Up Lawmakers
I’m amused by the elected tin gods who are bedeviling reporters and staffers in the Idaho and Washington Legislatures — House Speaker
Lawerence Denney, Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis and Washington Sen. Pam Roach, among others. You know these peacocks are getting full of themselves when they (Denney) start noticing small stuff, like who is or is
not pledging allegiance to the flag
. Or who is or is
not (Davis) suppose to be in the press section
. Or when they (Roach)
treat staffers like personal slaves
. Outside of Boise and Olympia, guys like farmer Denney are ordinary people who are lucky if the cows listen to them. At the Statehouse, however, they’ve spent the last three months hobnobbing with other tin gods, being wined and dined by high-paid lobbyists, and strutting through the halls of power. Some of them forget that it’s the office, not the man or woman in it, that attracts deferential treatment. However, some of them can’t hide their pettiness behind the important offices they are privileged to hold.
