It’s My 2 Cents — 5/19/08

In the last 2 weeks, I’ve had two siblings from my side visit in Coeur d’Alene. And my wife has had 2 siblings from her side visit. In times past, the routine for sight-seeing was fairly simple. Go down to Sherman Avenue for a coffee — and then a trip through the Hagadone mall and around the Boardwalk. This year, however, I took one group of relatives for the usual tour. But I took both to see Riverstone and John Stone’s manmade pond. I also enjoyed pointing out The Feathers on Northwest Boulevard, which I consider to be the most attractive public art feature in town, although I hear few people talk about them. On both occasions, my relatives wanted to eat at Azteca in Riverstone. The second choice was Red Robin — in Riverstone. My point? Subconsciously, am I, and possibly you, starting to consider Riverstone to be the new center or town rather than Sherman Avenue?

Question: Which are do you consider to be quintessential Coeur d’Alene: downtown Sherman Avenue, Riverstone, or the Silver Lake Mall area?
