What do we mean when we say ‘critic’?

Dan

Oh, by the way, when I mentioned Harry Knowles below, I use the term “critic” lightly. Knowles, who has been known to say a film sucks on occasion, is more of a pure film fan than critic.

Nothing wrong with that, of course. I, though, for reasons other than the obvious one, don’t consider the label critic to be something akin to spit. A critic in my mind is a film fan who expects movies to be art, not just mindless entertainment.
