HBO In Briefs: KEA Blames Logging

“This year’s flooding in the Coeur d’Alene and the St. Joe Rivers, like the ’65, ’74 and ’96 floods, are the result of heavy logging and road building by the Forest Service, Idaho Department of Lands and private timber corporations,” says Allen Isaacson, former supervisory hydrologist for the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. “I’ve consistently witnessed that the most severe damage occurred downstream in the most heavily logged areas”/ Kootenai Environmental Alliance .
