Are you excited by ‘Sex’?
Now that we’ve disposed of “Indiana Jones” – and the $5 gift certificate that I bought at Ben & Jerry’s yesterday to pay off my gambling debt – it’s time to look ahead at “Sex and the City,” which opens Friday.
To be honest here, I’ve never been a big SATC fan. My wife is, as is my daughter. And this is one of the only movies over which there’s been a definite gender split in our family. They like it, and I don’t understand why.
I don’t think I’m alone, though. And if we’re judging how well a movie connects with the overall audience by how much money it makes, especially during the opening weekend, it will be interesting to see just how much money SATC grosses.
Can a mostly female audience push the film into blockbuster territory? More important, will they provide it the staying power to stay there for a while?
Questions, questions. The only thing I know for sure is that I’m not likely to be offering any wagers on the outcome.
