DFO: This race epitomizes why I will never support appointment of Supreme Court judges by executive/judicial fiat. In Horton, you have a decent jurist who climbed to the high court because his predecessor stepped down early to allow Gov. Otter to make the appointment rather than open the process to a public vote. Outsider John Bradbury, campaigning on judicial reform, almost upset that apple cart. He threw a scare into our monolithic judicial system. Almost anything that injects some accountability into our judicial system is worth continuing.
