Will ‘Hancock’ outgross ‘Indy’?

So now my friend wants to pose a new bet with me. This one will pit the opening of the Will Smith superhero movie “Hancock” against “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”

“This time I’d take the newbie and give you the sequel,” he said. “ ‘Indiana Jones’ 3-day gross vs. ‘Hancock’ 5-day gross? I may even give you Indy’s Thursday, since it wasn’t so hot … but not Monday!”

As he points out, “Both open over holiday weekends, ‘Hancock’ is July 2. I’d definitely be the underdog, but I think ‘Hancock’ will be huge. Right now they are only saying $66 million, I think. Not sure if that’s a 5-day, but I think it will go way up.”

Sounds like a sucker bet to me . But I’ll give it some thought.
