P-A-R-T-Y? For Obama, Of Course!

Hailey Smith

A festival was held in Obama, Japan, Monday in honor of the election today.

Barack Obama is the life of the party in a Japanese fishing port sharing his name! This “sleepy” town awoke to cheer on the Democratic candidate before the major election. Dancing, singing, and guitar playing were all a part of this celebration. Approximately 50 children and adults sported “I Love Obama” T-shirts, too.

Seiji Fujiwara, a hotel owner in Japan, said, “I’m 85 percent confident that Obama will win.”

Yuko Shirayama of the city’s local “Obama Girls” hula dancing group agrees, saying, “We’ve been dancing for Mr. Obama for more than six months, so I hope he wins.”

Based off today’s results, it seems as if the celebration will continue. Hey, is anybody up for a party in Obama, Japan (say, tomorrow)?
