It’s tough to keep walking past a big old pot of gold, no matter how worthy the cause. That’s the case with Coeur d’Alene School District’s request for the city’s urban renewal agency, Lake City Development Corp., to spend $3.5 million upgrading Sorensen Magnet School of the Arts and Humanities. The school district, under the leadership of Superintendent Hazel Bauman, is being run efficiently and effectively, particularly given these difficult economic times. … While we don’t blame anyone for asking, we can suggest that the district’s request for LCDC funding should be denied/ CDA Press Editorial Board .
