JS: Recalling South Hill Rapist Terror
During the hunt for Kevin Coe, I was dating a
city police officer that was part of the team searching for the South Hill Rapist; I was also the daughter of a Spokane Daily Chronicle editor who worked side-by-side with Coe’s father, Gordon. Fear riddled the city, especially on the South Hill; women did not travel alone, they went in pairs or groups to their cars. My mother taught special ed at one of the South Hill elementary schools and later discovered that Kevin Coe often parked at the school pretending to search for “the South Hill rapist” while all the time, he was the culprit. I went to school with this creep – I was a couple years younger and not his type. Good for me/JeanieSpokane.
