Simpson Rips Sali For Opposing Bailout

Item: Idaho delegation wary of bailout of financial institutions, but some say it may be essential /Dan Popkey, Idaho Statesman

More Info: A divided Idaho congressional delegation reacted warily to President Bush’s proposal for hundreds of billions more from taxpayers to restore financial stability. Sen. Mike Crapo and Rep. Mike Simpson said Bush’s plan may be necessary to avert a financial disaster, but Rep. Bill Sali stood by his opposition to any further bailout of financial institutions. That prompted Simpson to criticize his fellow Republican for putting ideology ahead of the national interest.

Question: Is Sali right that we should stop bailing out failing financial institutions. Or are Crapo and Simpson right that the bailout may be necessary?
