Kiki: Tourist Biz Should Be Optimistic
Item: Tourist guide publisher says businesses should be optimistic /Sarah Leavenworth, Shoshone County News-Press
More Info:
In spite of tough economic times in North Idaho and across the country, Kiki Miller
of “The Guide to North Idaho” told Wallace business owners they have reason to be optimistic heading into the heart of the tourist season.
Miller, the publisher of “Guide to North Idaho” and its web counterpart,
fyinorthidaho.com
, was a keynote speaker at Wednesday’s Historic Wallace Chamber of Commerce meeting at the Jameson. Totals for Idaho’s “bed tax,” a state tax on lodging and campgrounds, have not dipped compared to last year’s receipts and tourism-related jobs are not being lost — positive signs for tourism across North Idaho and for Silver Valley businesses, according to Miller.
Question: Do you agree with Kiki Miller that area business owners and the hospitality industry have a reason for optimism, despite the current hard economic times?
