KCSD Fires, Disciplines Jail Workers

A number of Kootenai County Jail personnel have been fired or discipline as a result of allegations involving inmate medications that led to an extensive internal investigation. In a news release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Department, the investigation began when the sheriff learned of the claims. The Idaho State Police was also involved in the investigation. Idaho law does not allow the sheriff to disclose the names of individuals who were subject to the internal investigation or who received disciplinary action. “Policies and procedures only work when those involved exercise common sense and ethical behavior,” Watson said. “A lack of integrity and a lack of following the ideals as set forth in the Law Enforcement Code of Ethics will not be tolerated in our Department.” ( Meghann M.
