House Rejects Gas Tax Hike 37-32
The House has voted 32-37 on the gas tax increase bill, HB 135a, defeating the bill. Here is House Transportation Chairwoman JoAn Wood’s entire closing debate: “The people of the state of Idaho who trust us to look at their circumstances and make decisions look to this House. This House is the voice of the people. I believe in the system, Mr. Speaker. Debate is closed”/ Betsy Russell , Eye On Boise. More here .
In favor: Reps. Anderson, Chadderdon, Eskridge, Henderson.
Voting against: Reps. Clark, Harwood, Nonini, Sayler, Shepherd(02).
MIA : Hart.
Question: Why has Gov. Butch Otter, who called today’s vote ‘irresponsible’ been unable to pass a gas-tax or registration-fee increase to help fix roads?
