Montanans Wary Of Woodstove Plan
Item: Frenchtown: Residents hot over woodstoves /Michael Moore, Missoulian
More Info: Recently, a postcard went out to folks in the Frenchtown area warning that their “rights are going up in flames.” The most hyperbolic statement was this reference to proposed changes in Missoula’s air quality regulations: “This means you may no longer have the right to burn wood.” The postcard went on: “This rule will also prohibit installation of most wood-burning appliances, including all wood-burning fireplaces, boilers, cook stoves, outdoor fire pits and all wood, pellet or charcoal burning barbecues.” N ot surprisingly, the phones of city-county air quality specialists Mamie Colburn and Ben Schmidt went into overdrive.
Question: Should wood stoves be banned in the Inland Northwest?
