Kage Mann: Be Wary Of McEuen Changes
Kage Mann: I remember watching the CDA city council meeting and everybody except Ron Edinger voted for
the W-M plan.Ron abstained and said he didn’t like the plan, as it might affect to many things including the boat ramp, but he wanted to study it some more.Anyway, I came away thinking that nobody on the city council used the facilities at McKuen, so they voted for the plan. So, why try to ruin it for younger people, just because you old, fat people on the council don’t currently play ball or Tennis or go boating. Question: Would you object if the parking area for boat trailers at the foot of Tubbs Hill was converted into an amphitheater? And/or the American Legion Baseball diamond was moved elsewhere to expand a passive green area for soccer or community gatherings?
If I got it all wrong, then why did the CDA Press write this:’For McEuen Field, it means dusting off a nearly decade-old conceptual design for a new, multi-use park. The new design was adopted by the city at the time, and would open up the field with more green space and an event plaza while losing the softball fields. One possible location for the ball fields would have been at Riverstone, should a $35 million sports arena be built with ballfields around it, but that idea is also still in the conceptual stage’.
It sounds like they want to get rid of the ball fields to me.
“We want to bring people to the water instead of parking cars near the water,” Mayor Sandi Bloem said on Friday.
So, I am asuming the city wants to make the 3rd st.Tubbs Hill
entrance and parking lot into some green space and make boaters park
their trailers over by city hall on the far parking lot.
That’s a
hell of a walk to and from your boat docked at the 3rd st. boat
ramp. Not really a good idea IMO.Dave Walker who used to blog at the CDA
Press and who sat on the CDA City Council said the same thing to me on
the blogsite.Dave said:the
city would be better served to turn the Tubbs Hill parking lot area into green space.
