LCDC Set To Dust Off McEuen Plan
At the LCDC meeting last night, the board decided to work with city officials to develop a 2009 plan to upgrade McEuen Field. LCDC exec Tony Berns (pictured) said the urban renewal agency wants to dust off the “Committee of Nine” plan from 2002 (which was a follow-up to the 1999 Walker-Macy Plan) to see which parts still apply today and which need to be changed. It’s possible, he said, that the Committee of Nine plan is outdated and an entirely new one is needed. The agency has money available to help fund the planning aspect of a new or modified plan, he said, adding: “It’s the city’s ball to carry.” LCDC wants to see attention focused again on the McEuen Field upgrade by this fall (when fiscal year 2010 begins), Berns said.
Question: Would you be okay with a plan that removed the tennis courts and American Legion Baseball field for more green space for public events, kept the softball fields, and transformed the boat-trailer parking lot into an amphitheater?
