Spotless column

The Spokesman-Review

Thank you for Gary Crooks’ column, “Smart Bombs.” I read the one, “They sure can dish it,” on April 8. I had read in Doug Clark’s column that people were going to Coeur d’Alene for dishwasher soap, but I couldn’t understand why, Crooks’ article cleared that up.

I have no problem with the new soap. I scrape the plates, rinse them quickly with plain water. And because I do that, I run the machine on a short cycle, called “China Crystal,” put in the phosphate-free soap, and everything comes out clean. I even put it on air-dry. This cycle uses less water, electricity and time.

If I can’t load the dishwasher right away, I put the plates and dishes in water to keep the food from drying on. It is so simple to rinse the dishes, that I can’t see why anyone would drive to Coeur d’Alene to avoid it.
