Profiling run amok

The Spokesman-Review

I confess! If the Department of Homeland Security is right, I must be a dangerous right-wing extremist.

I am a 79-year-old female, 5-feet-1-inch tall, and weigh 118 pounds. I own a Smith & Wesson revolver and I know how to use it to protect myself. I joined the NRA last month. I go to church weekly, I read my Bible and pray. In the minds of some, this makes me a threat to my country.

To any clear-thinking person, this is ridiculous, and the Homeland Security report is divisive and evil. President Obama talks about unifying the country, but actions like this do the opposite and generate fear and hatred instead.

My government is spending my tax money to attack me instead of protecting me. That’s one of the reasons why I attended a No New Taxes Tea Party protest April 15. This kind of change harms the country I love.
