Standing up for rights

The Spokesman-Review

Aah! Another misinformed author discovered in your Tuesday’s letters to the editor addressing the issue of recent tea parties in our area. I take umbrage to comments made by this author that inferred that we were there only because “our guy didn’t win.”

If this individual had just taken the time to attend a tea party to see what all his neighbors were protesting instead of reading his interpreted news in a biased newspaper, he would have discovered that was not the purpose of the tea party meetings at all. What we went there for, be it an individual who was a Democrat, Republican, Independent, Constitutionalist or whatever, was to take a stand against a big government takeover of our constitutional rights. We are upset that the future of this nation is in peril due to lack of responsible leadership in our Congress. I agreed with only one item contained in this person’s letter advising “love it or leave it”; I would, however, direct this sage advice to those in political office that love themselves and their power of office more than the liberties of this nation’s residents.
