APhoto Of The Day — 4/27/09
Entrants in the Conch Republic Bed Race propel their entry down Duval Street Saturday in Key West, Fla. The wacky event was one of the closing activities in the 10-day long Conch Republic Independence Celebration. The festival commemorates Key West’s 1982 “secession” from America, after the United States established a surprise roadblock at the top of the Florida Keys Overseas Highway ostensibly searching for illegal drugs and aliens. Top Cutlines (Monday):
- 1. The CAVErs left their monthly meeting a little early to rush Mary Souza down to witness the ribbon cutting at the Kroc Center. It’s rumored that LCDC illegally spent taxpayer dollars on the ribbon, and then donated it to the church-based community center — Bent.
- 2. JBelle practices with her team in order to make a grand entrance to next year’s Blogfest — Shannon.
- 3. No conchs were harmed in the production of this image. Any likeness to other conchs, living or dead is purely coincidental. We can’t say the same about the baby seals however, that may or may not be involved in the manufacturing of those MuckLucs. Do not try this at home. This stunt was performed by professional crazy people on a closed track. In the case of a wardrobe malfunction, some items may appear smaller — Bayview Bob.
