McMorris Rodgers’ doublespeak
Republican Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers’ response to President Obama’s health care reform plan warned about government getting between doctors and patients’ personal medical decisions. The congresswoman is the queen of doublespeak. Her party wants the government to criminalize embryonic stem cell research and personal medical decisions related to abortion. I understand her moral position, but Cathy’s morality changes when big corporate insurance profits are at risk. Apparently having insurance companies involved in medical decisions is fine.
The congresswoman supported the multibillion-dollar Plan D prescription drug plan, with its ban on government price negotiation. She decries the proposed public insurance option that would compete with insurance company prices, stating that the Democrats’ plan would hurt competition. Never mind that the government-run VA negotiates the lowest drug prices.
Cathy talked about her son’s health and how she chooses his doctor and expects him to make her son’s health better. She didn’t mention that her family has the congressional government-run health care plan. Contact McMorris Rodgers and ask her to sponsor an amendment to Democratic plans, giving all of us the same health care program that her family enjoys at our taxpayer expense. Her staff most likely has a doublespeak response already drafted.
