Enforce three strikes

The Spokesman-Review

The problem with the mandatory three strikes law is that it is not enforced enough. While your letter, Ms. White, does make sense in the eyes of a fellow taxpayer, the released offenders on felony drug charges or stolen property do not return to their families rehabilitated but only return to a life of crime and put additional burden on taxpayers and society in general.

The law was intended to be a deterrent to criminals. Case in point, someone close to me would like to see one offender put away for a long time, but he knows how to work the system and receives continuance after continuance reducing his offenses and then his sentence. Hence, he is back on the job stealing and doing drugs and being a deadbeat dad. How is this a taxpayer’s dream?
