Don’t neglect long-term care

The Spokesman-Review

I had the opportunity to meet Sen. Maria Cantwell in Spokane recently and discuss the issue of long-term care. I came away impressed with Sen. Cantwell’s innovative ideas to improve long-term care. The bills she is currently sponsoring in Congress will help so many families.

As part of health care reform, we must expand opportunities for people to remain in their own home and communities.

If Sen. Cantwell’s innovative ideas are listened to, it would mean huge savings to Medicare and Medicaid. I want to thank Sen. Cantwell for her leadership in highlighting the need to include long-term care options in any health reform package. Seniors and the taxpayers want choices.
