Shorten the leash

The Spokesman-Review

With the recent shooting of the four officers in Lakewood, Wash., we jump to blame Mike Huckabee, Arkansas, Washington and even the bail bond company. But the truth is, the blame falls on society.

Groups like the ACLU and individuals believe anyone can be saved, regardless of how many crimes they have committed. We move trials of war criminals to civilian courts, etc. We spend too many resources trying to appease all these groups.

Defense attorneys find ways around the system to dismiss incriminating evidence. Why must we help career criminals, who will never conform to society, commit more crimes?

We allow bail when all the evidence points to the criminal. That’s why we have bail bond companies, people, so don’t blame them.

How many times have we seen it that the accused jumps bail and runs? We never learn and make everyday lives for law-abiding citizens more dangerous. Why do you think so many law-abiding citizens need to arm themselves?

Wake up, people, make the punishment fit the crime. Don’t give these criminals the chance to continue to damage our way of life.
