Fellow cart user’s pet peeve

The Spokesman-Review

How many of you come home with groceries and put your French bread on the floor? How many of you let your dogs sit on your kitchen counters? Actually, we all do if we shop in grocery stores and use carts.

Recently I shopped in two local grocery stores and saw three dogs being hauled around in carts. These dogs had their bare rear ends and unshod feet all over in the carts. How could I tell if the cart I was now using had had a previous canine passenger?

I took my coat off and guarded my French bread (peeking out of its wrapper), but in the summer I don’t wear extra clothes.

Service dogs are legitimate and a good thing, but people who can’t bear to be without their pit bulls are another. Yes, one time it was a pit bull with no collar or leash.

I have five dogs in my house – no one could love dogs more – but their cling-ons and germs stay in my house. I’m tired of thoughtless people sharing their dogs’ drool, etc. with me via a shopping cart.
