These are a few of my favorite films

I wasn’t able to sleep last night, so I took the opportunity to look back at 2009 and try to map out a few of my favorite - and not so favorite - films.

Here are some of the movies that I compiled in an effort to come up with a Top 10:

“The Hurt Locker,” “Up,” “Gomorrah,” “Il Divo,” “The Year My Parents Went on Vacation,” “Star Trek,” “Tyson,” “Stella,” “Avatar,” “Away We Go,” “The Cove,” “District 9,” “Unmistaken Child,” “(500) Days of Summer,” “Soul Power,” “Capitalism: A Love Story,” “It Might Get Loud,” “Paranormal Activity,” “Where the Wild Things Are,” “The Fantastic Mr. Fox,” “Precious,” “Brothers,” “Invictus,” “Up in the Air,” “Tulpan,” “Summer Hours,” “Moon,” “The Beaches of Agnes,” “Cold Souls,” “Flame & Citron,” “Big Fan,” “35 Shots of Rum,” “The Informant,” “An Education.”

Among the year’s biggest disappointments: “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” “Inglourious Basterds,” “Watchmen,” “The Day the Earth Stood Still,” “Funny People,” “Zombieland,” “Quiet Chaos,” “A Serious Man,” “This Is It,” “Pirate Radio.”

And among the films that I feel comfortable nominating among the worst of the year: “My Life in Ruins,” “Paul Blart: Mall Cop” and “Angels & Demons.”

I’ll do some meditating on all this. I still have a few films to see.
