COUGARS

In what was the best game of the season, regardless of the outcome, Cal pulled away from WSU in the final minutes again, winning 71-63. Both teams shot the lights out, with the Cougars hitting more than 60 percent of their shots until the final 2 minutes and Cal over 50 all night. The Bears, however, had a decided edge at the free-throw line, wher the hit 13 of 16 and the Cougars hit, well … they shot one. All night. More than anything, though, WSU had no answer for Patrick Christopher, again. He had been in a shooting slump but torched the Cougars for 20. Theo Robertson added 17 and Jerome Randle 20. Taylor Rochestie led WSU with 19 while Klay Thompson added 15, including back-to-back 3s that tied the game at 60. We’ll be back in about an hour with our story …
