Land sale robs community

The Spokesman-Review

The Glenrose Community Association recently met to discuss the Little League Sports Complex slated for property owned by Morning Star Boys’ Ranch.

MSBR declined to be represented at this meeting. Little League attended and took a defensive posture, refusing to answer questions asked by neighbors. When pressured, Little League clarified this would be a private, locked facility, exclusively for their use only.

Neighbors, the Spokane community and Morning Star’s boys are locked out, unless they belong to Little League.

Little League continues to spin this as a community park. Spokane community, beware. Nothing could be further from the truth. The complex will be built without hearings, environmental reviews or traffic studies, used six days a week, morning to night, most activities being in the evenings.

Lights, advertising, a PA system, concession stands and garbage will grace land where hawks, bald eagles, moose, deer, coyotes and elk now live.

Our county commissioners must take a long, hard look at this. If they can build a sports complex, why not an amusement park?

MSBR is lacking in ethical values by selling this land to Spokane Little League. It is not for the good of the boys, as they’d like you to believe.
