Stimulus means pork
When my husband and I first got married, we saved for a new house. We worried that our credit wasn’t good enough. It was hard in those days.
Now anyone can buy a house, good credit or not. Newly married couples are purchasing homes that they cannot afford. Whatever happened to that starter house and moving to a larger home as your pay increased? Is it any wonder there are so many foreclosures? People are losing homes that they should have never qualified for. The same goes for credit card debt. So who benefits from the bailout? Not us! We pay our mortgage and live within our means.
But right now, Congress isn’t living within its means. Lawmakers have passed a $787 billion “stimulus” bill. Instead of “stimulus,” I like to call it the “Extra Special Pork” package – filled with enough goodies for everyone, but unfortunately nothing that will create jobs – nothing that will help Eastern Washington farmers who work hard to feed this country.
Write your representatives to let them know what you think about the bill. I’ve written Cathy McMorris Rodgers and received a response. My letters to our senators fell on deaf ears.
