The Spokesman-Review

State of Idaho Rep. Phil Hart’s idea to create a law allowing survivors of people killed by wolves to be able to sue the federal government is extremely narrow-minded. As was mentioned in the article on Feb. 14, being killed by other wildlife most people don’t consider dangerous is much more likely. People are gored by bison. Moose and deer have trampled people. My guess is that Hart is no different from other people that believe the myths about wolves being dangerous to people, and those people are more worried about wolves killing “their” elk and deer.

Phil says a wolf “doesn’t just kill to eat, it kills for the fun of it.” Sounds like many of my hunting friends. Gee, Phil, how about all the people killed by hunters every year? Should their relatives be allowed to sue the state because the state issued them a license?
