Complex would be nuisance

The Spokesman-Review

After reading the letters to the editor regarding the Little League sports complex to be built on Morning Star Boys Ranch property, I wondered what these people were thinking. I live outside Glenrose, next to West Valley baseball field. We deal with vandalism, drugs, floodlights and unbearable noise. Garbage and parked cars line our streets. Emergency vehicles cannot get through and we have no additional support from the Sheriff’s Department. This is from one baseball field.

Doug Kelley and SLL parents (Letters, Feb. 21) feel that this kind of impairment is acceptable. With Mr. Kelley’s uninformed land-use thinking, perhaps Spokane County should rethink his future position as chairperson of the Planning Commission. I can come up with a better solution and I have only my neighborhood baseball experience to draw upon.

Spokane community, find an acceptable place to build the soon-to-be 60-acre complex. A residential neighborhood is not the place. A different location is a win-win situation for all sides. It will help to preserve one of the most beautiful places in Spokane, and it will send the right message to our kids by not funding attorney fees for child abuse charges incurred by MSBR.
