Who will sing for infant victim?

The Spokesman-Review

One of the articles in the paper today (Jan. 6), giving the details of the death of a newborn baby boy, made me feel anger and disgust at the way society is heading. It brought to mind something written in the S-R Slice about a week ago.

“Speaking up for the voiceless” was the caption and as I read it, I was amazed at the sympathetic emotions expressed for animals. It mentioned a TV commercial for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which raised $30 million and probably because of the song “In the Arms of the Angels” being played in the background.

Paul Turner, who wrote the article, says, “If you have seen this and it doesn’t get to you, please consider therapy.”

How can people allow human babies to be killed before or after they are born and not feel anguish over this? Recently a 2-month-old was killed by abuse and this latest little one was found in the garbage. Do you hear “In the Arms of the Angels” being sung for them?

As an African proverb says, “The ruin of a nation begins in the homes of its people.”
